Screening Response Reminders:
- There are 8 Black Mirror episode lessons on the schedule. I am going to take that down to 5. Here is how it will work:
- You will select 5 of the Black Mirror lessons (Lessons 20-27) to complete. All Black Mirror lessons are now live on the site.
- For those 5 lessons, you will watch the episode for that lesson, complete the screening response in your google drive folder, and watch the lecture video for that lesson.
- You are in the driver's seat - after completing Lesson 19, reading through the episode guide, and looking at the course schedule, you decide which 5 lessons from 20-27 that you want to complete.
- All due dates and times will remain as stipulated on the course schedule.
- This change should not only lessen the work load, but give you the freedom to decide how best to fit these assignments into your schedule. Want to knock out the first 5 and be done, go for it. Need a break now and do the last 5, go for it. Want to pick and choose, go for it. Up to you, as long as you complete 5.

- I am going to allow you to make up, up to 3 of these assignments. You can do all 3 of one or the other or mix and match. If you just need to do 1 or 2, that works as well.
- All of these make up assignments will be due by Friday, 12/11 by 10:00pm (the due date of our last assignment)
- I have created a form for you to fill out so that I know what you are completing - please fill out when you actually go to complete the assignment so I can grade it early if you submit it early. You will also use this form to complete any async quizzes you are making up (see below)

Reading Notes Resubmit
- You may re-submit any one reading notes assignment to replace a 0 or low grade.
- The reading notes resubmit will be due by Friday, 12/11 by 10:00pm
- I will create a submission link for resubmits - you can submit whenever you'd like prior to the deadline.
- All reading assignment instructions apply.
- Please save the file/title the file as - Last Name, First Name - Reading Notes Resubmit
- Extra Credit
- I typically never offer extra credit. The only time I do is if a colleague needs participants for a study. You are in luck, for the first time in many years, I have a colleague who needs participants.
- If you participate in his study and I receive confirmation from him, I will add 2 points to your lowest Reading Notes grade. It doesn't seem like much, but those 2 points can have a fairly significant impact on your overall reading notes score.
- See below for my colleague's extra credit assignment instructions
Hi there! I am a PhD student at Klein College's Media and Communication Program at Temple University. I am conducting an online experiment to discover how we communicate in a mediated context. If you agree to participate you will have a Zoom call with me and another person, and you will complete 2 simple tasks (as in describing 2 images).
Total completion time: Around 20 minutes (10 min for tasks + 5 min for questionnaire).
Reward: You will receive extra credit in this class*, and you will be entered in a drawing to win a $50 Amazon gift card.
How to participate: Please click this link - https://calendly.com/eugenekukshinov/zoomstudy - to book a date and time to participate (there are dates in November and early December). A day before the Zoom call you will receive an email with a zoom link and instructions.
For the call, you will need a laptop, a table to sit at, a phone to record a video of yourself, and an empty room so nothing distracts you.
For questions: e.kukshinov@temple.edu
* You can be offered an alternative task (to summarize a research paper) if you cannot participate in the experiment but still want to receive an extra credit.
